Kitten Mitten — Donation & E-commerce System

Project Overview: Kitten Mitten is a non-profit organization focused on supporting and caring for animals through community-driven initiatives and fundraising.
The organization initially had a website built using a proprietary page builder provided by a hosting company.

The Objective

The goal was to move the organization to a platform that:

  • Allowed full customization and ownership

  • Supported both donations and e-commerce

  • Could scale as the community and fundraising efforts grew

  • Was easy for the client to manage independently

Strategy

After reviewing the existing setup, I advised rebuilding the website on WordPress rather than continuing to customize within the restricted system.

The reasoning was simple:

  • WordPress would give the client full control and flexibility

  • The platform could support custom donation flows and products

  • Future changes would no longer depend on hosting limitations

  • The site could evolve alongside the organization’s mission

I clearly explained the trade-offs and long-term benefits before proceeding.
